New Imported LNG Based Gas-fired Combined Cycle Power Plant (Phase-1) (Sub-consultancy)

Project Details

Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mitsui Company Limited, to build a 500 – 630 MW re-gasified LNG-based combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Matarbari, Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar District, Bangladesh.

CPGCBL has proposed one (1) block of CCPP (M701J). The gross power output is 617.2 MW net power output is 591.1 MW. The net thermal efficiency is 57.7%. The plant load factor is considered 85%. The CCPP is highly efficient and used RLNG as the main fuel and HSD as a backup fuel. The operable service life is 30 years.

34.7 acres are required for the power plant and associated facilities of the Project. 13.3 acres are required for construction of sea embankment of the CCPP. Approximately 80 mmscfd of fuel gas is required. Daily consumption of the HSD oil-fired CCPP is estimated to be 3,000 kL/day. During the construction phase, peak water demand will be 200 m3/day. The water requirement for the Project is 650 m3/hr or 15600 m3/day. The required make-up water for the cooling tower will be approximately 500 m3/hr and the required quantity of water for steam turbine (ST) cooling will be approximately 37,000 m3/hr.
